Austen House is a low secure, forensic hospital that provides vital support for children and young people with specialist mental health needs, in the South of England.
Our healthcare specialists Sam and Will Boex led this project, starting with a co-design workshop to engage both users and staff. This process allows a voice for all users and a deeper understanding of the ambition for any project.
The newly refurbished hospital now boasts state of the art education facilities, a new art studio, music room, gym and sensory room as well as 14-bedrooms. There are dedicated rooms for young people to receive the vital support they need and private areas for families and carers to be with their loved ones.
The result is a people-focused environment for the benefit of all.
